Digital Divide Fund has raised over £140,000 to buy devices and connections for disadvantaged students

In Summer 2020, at the height of the Covid pandemic, we conceived the idea of a Digital Divide Fund, centralising philanthropic giving to tackle the digital divide. The model is to work in partnership with schools, helping them purchase devices and connections for their most disadvantaged students.

Working with charity Livery Schools Link, the Digital Digital Fund launched in September 2020 and has since raised over £140,000, providing help to over 663 students in 60 schools in London, Bristol and Leeds:

“We have been able to provide 27 students with laptops, so they are able to access their education. These donations will change the children’s lives and open up opportunities for their future!”
Ruth Coyle, Director of Learning at La Retraite RC Girls’ School

“We have been able to provide 26 laptops and 8 dongles with prepayment for students. Education is a ladder to success for many students and this enables them to continue with their school work and give them a better foundation for the future.”
Teresa Crowley, Careers Leader at Notre Dame School

From January, the Digital Divide Fund was included in the BBC Make a Difference campaign, accelerating donations to the fund and the support that can be provided.

If you would like to donate to the fund, you can do so here on the Virgin Money Giving fundraising page.
